This restaurant's charm is immediately felt upon arrival—the historic limestone walls, fashioned from locally sourced bricks, exude an old-world character that perfectly frames the elegant white-clothed tables and the cozy courtyard where many guests prefer to dine.

The kitchen here focuses on crafting dishes that celebrate the region’s rich gastronomic heritage, made from the freshest local ingredients bursting with vibrant flavors. While the menu is ever-evolving, standouts include delicately prepared salmon dishes, refreshing gazpacho, tender tuna plates, and succulent duck entrées that melt in your mouth. For those with a sweet tooth, the homemade profiteroles and macarons paired with refreshing sorbets create a blissful finale. Each plate is a delightful symphony of textures and aromas that awaken the senses, inviting you to savor every bite slowly.

Diners frequently praise the thoughtful wine selection that brilliantly complements the cuisine. Beyond the food, the atmosphere is strikingly welcoming. The staff, noted for their professionalism and warm hospitality, resonate with genuine passion and attentiveness. Many patrons emphasize how Le Clos du Roy offers a peaceful haven away from the bustling central square of Saint-Émilion, making it an ideal spot for both romantic dinners and relaxed lunches. The intimate courtyard seating is especially coveted—booking ahead is a wise tip to secure one of those coveted outdoor tables where the ambiance truly enhances the sensory feast.

As one impressed guest shared, the meals here transcend mere dining; they evoke profound emotions, lifting the spirit and stirring delighted tears. Indeed, it’s a place where impeccable cuisine meets heartfelt service in a setting steeped in history, offering an unforgettable experience that lingers long after the last bite.

See .... …. The building is old, the walls are made of local bricks, used from old times, containing a lot of limestone, hence the light color - seen in the photos; …. White tablecloths, exactly in the style of fine dining restaurants. Feel …. …. Great service! Of course, they observe  the etiquette of serving food to everyone at once. …. We asked about their recipe for the lamb, because we liked it very much. The waiter went to the cooks, came back and told everything in detail - no secrets, no pretensions, it was very kind of them to share their recipe with a smile to us. Hear …. …. Well, there was no music - it was super weird. But we were a big company and we made a lot of noise and talked, so we were not bored at all, but somehow it was as if something was crippled in the atmosphere without music. ............. Smell .... …. Let me say again - the lamb! It won our admirations and not only with the aroma; …. I am a big fan of gourmet coffee - it is served with several desserts, an incredible combination of the smell of caramelized sugar from brulee, coconut, chocolate and fragrant organic coffee from Mexico! Taste .... …. Very interesting burger - not with a bun, as is standard, but with toasted bread, it was very nice. …. I was very impressed by the vegetables, as a side dish to all dishes - slightly crunchy, with the right amount of flavor; …. The appetizer with home-marinated salmon was unfortunately tasteless. In general, the dishes are not very salty in restaurants in the region; …. Gourmand coffee and the desserts accompanying it - they are so delicious, there was even a traditional Turkish rice pudding, which was sweet on top and I really liked it, although I have avoided this dessert since childhood; …. Mandatory wine for food, there is no way without it. You can visit Le Clos de Roy restaurant in Sant Emilion, but I'm sure there are other good restaurants around, so if you have time, give it a chance elsewhere, but you certainly won't go wrong here. Excellent food in a cosy little yard and a very friendly professional service! Although we arrived a few minutes early, the 'patron' welcomed us and we started the evening with a refreshing apéro. We can warmly recommend this place!

What a fabulous place - friendly attentive staff, cater for all experiences, superb food and wine and a great atmosphere. €140 for 3 courses, 3 glasses of wine each, Sauternes with dessert, bottle of water and some “extra” nibbles. Salmon, gazpacho, tuna, duck, cheese, macaron/ sorbet! Lush!!! We will be back.

One of my best meals ever. I literally shed a tear. The food is excellent, the wine selection lovely and the ambience is perfect - away from the chaos of the central square in St Emilion. Highly recommended. Do yourself a favour a book ahead to secure an outside table.

Delicious food, a great local spot with fresh ingredients in the style of Bordeaux. The wine was delicious and well-priced. Great, attentive service. It appears to be a family business, highly recommend!
